The decision by Pope Francis to elevate the Apostolic Administration of Estonia to a diocese came just as Estonian Catholics were set to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Apostolic Administration of Estonia.<\/p>\n<p>Prelate of the Order of Malta Msgr. Luis Manuel Cu\u00f1a Ramos, Ambassador Manfred Ritter von Markhof, Chairman of the supervisory board of OMRO Estonia Alexander Tsikhilov, board members and numerous volunteers were also invited to the festive events. The Ambassador and the Chairman provided financial support for the organization of both the events and the receptions while the embassy administrator Indrek Petersoo and his wife Juta Petersoo took care of the welcoming of the foreign guests and all the logistics, and the volunteers of OMRO Estonia took care of the preparation of the coffee tables and gatherings.<\/p>\n<p>The celebrations began on November 1st with the Holy Mass of the All Saints&#8217; Day at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral in Tallinn. November 1, 1924, was the day of the founding of the Estonian Apostolic Administration, and on this occasion, the Order of Malta donated a Chalice and a Ciborium to the newly established Diocese of Tallinn. The gift was presented to the Bishop of Tallinn by H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof, the Ambassador of Order of Malta in Estonia and Mr. Alexander Tsikhilov, Chairman of the supervisory board of OMRO Estonia.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, November 2, the anniversary conference of the Estonian Catholic Church took place, opened by Alar Karis, the President of the Republic of Estonia. The Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Georg G\u00e4nswein, Bishop Philippe Jourdan, foreign guests, and Estonian church and cultural historians also spoke at the conference.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, November 3, the installation mass for the Bishop of Tallinn took place at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral. Archbishop Georg G\u00e4nswein, Apostolic Nuncio to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, presented the papal documents, the first of which established the Diocese of Tallinn and the second of which appointed Philippe Jourdan as its first bishop.<\/p>\n<p>The program concluded with a ceremonial reception for the Bishop of Tallinn at the Estonian National Opera, where the Lauri L\u00e4\u00e4nemets, Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Estonia gave a speech.<\/p>\n<p>The creation of the Tallinn Diocese and the establishment of the Tallinn Diocese were a great celebration for the Estonian Catholic community.
