On the occasion of the Beatification of Archbishop Eduard Profittlich SJ (1890-1942), the Diocese of Tallinn and the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Estonia organized a presentation and luncheon to the Ambassadors and the representatives of the diplomatic Corps in Estonia on February 25, 2025.
On February 24, 2025, Estonia celebrated its 107th anniversary of independence with a series of official events attended by members of the diplomatic corps and foreign ambassadors accredited to Estonia. H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof, the Ambassador of the Order of Malta together with I.E. Friederike Mautner von Markhof were among the guests of honour.
The Holy See have confirmed the the beatification of Archbishop Eduard Profittlich will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00 in Tallinn. The Holy Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence archbishop emeritus Christoph Schönborn.
As part of the Diplomacy Goes to School campaign launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof, the Ambassador of the Order of Malta, visited Tallinna 21st School together with Alexander Tsikhilov, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Order of Malta Estonia, and Indrek Petersoo, the Board Member of Order of Malta Estonia.
Ivo Graziani, the Chief of Cabinet of the Grand Hospitaller of the Sovereign Order of Malta, conducted an official visit to Tallinn, Estonia on January 28-30, 2025, to observe and support the Order’s local humanitarian activities. The visit highlighted the deepening cooperation between the Order of Malta and its Estonian partners, with a focus on charitable outreach and community engagement.
On January 27, 2025, the Speaker of the Riigikogu, Lauri Hussar, met with the H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Estonia to discuss ongoing cooperation and shared humanitarian values. The meeting took place in the office of the Speaker of the Riigikogu and focused on the strengthening of diplomatic and charitable relations between Estonia and the Sovereign Order of Malta.
The Ambassador of the Order of Malta H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof attended the State Funeral of Arnold Rüütel (1928-2024), the former President of Estonia. Rüütel served as the President of Estonia from 2001 to 2006. At the time of his election, he was seen as a consensus figure who could unite people across generational and ideological divides.
The Diocese of Tallinn announced that on 18 December 2024, His Holiness Pope Francis approved the Beatification of Archbishop Eduard Profittlich SJ (1890-1942). The Beatification of Archbishop Eduard Profittlich will take place in Tallinn, according to the rules of the Holy See, a few months after. The official date will be announced soon in 2025. This is a historic event for Estonia and the Estonian people.
The President of the Republic of Estonia Alar Karis and the First Lady Sirje Karis hosted a reception for the ambassadors at the Arvo Pärt Center in Laulasmaa. H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof, the Ambassador of the Order of Malta briefly introduced the Order's activities in Estonia to the President and the First Lady which was received with admiration and gratitude.
