On December 11, Mayor of Tallinn Jevgeni Ossinovski hosted a year-end reception for representatives of foreign embassies and international organizations residing in Tallinn. This time, the reception took place in the newly renovated Orangery in Kadriorg Park. For the first time, the Ambassador of the Order of Malta was invited to the reception.
On December 11, H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Estonia hosted a pre-Christmas reception at the Embassy premises for the staff, main partners, supporters and collaborators of Order of Malta Embassy and Order of Malta Foundation in Estonia.
On December 6, the Ambassador H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof with I.E. Friederike Mautner von Markhof hosted the St. Nicholas Day reception in Tallinn for for bishops and clergy, the diplomatic corps, state and city representatives, volunteers and people of goodwill. The Ambassador was hosting a St. Nicholas Day reception for the second year in a row to celebrate the preceding blessing of the nativity scenes and the opening of the Christmas Street in Tallinn's historic Old Town.
From June 17 to November 17, 2024, the exhibition about the past and present of the Sovereign Order of Malta was open for the the visitors in the Tallinn Museum of Orders of Knighthood. The exhibition which presented the artifacts, decorations and insignia both from the library of the Sovereign Order of Malta and also from the collection of the museum was named “Sovereign Order of Malta is Service of Mankind”.
Philippe Jourdan, bishop of the Catholic Church in Estonia, was officially installed on Sunday, November 3, 2024, as the first bishop of the recently established Diocese of Tallinn.
On October 29, the Ambassador visited Tallinn synagogue and had a meeting with the representatives of Tallinn Jewish Community - Chief Rabbi Shamuel Kot and Alla Jakobson, the Chairman of the Jewish Community.
The Holy Father has elevated the Apostolic Administration of Estonia to a diocese, and appointed Bishop Philippe Jourdan as first bishop of Tallinn. Bishop Jourdan was formerly serving as the Apostolic Administrator of Estonia. The Vatican made the announcement on September 26, 2024, coinciding with the start of the pope’s apostolic journey to Luxembourg and Belgium. The Pope's announcement was read out on the same day in Tallinn's Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral by Archbishop Georg Gänswein, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in the Baltics.
On Saturday, August 24, a pilgrimage to Viru-Nigula in Estonia took place. This year the Catholic Church in Estonia celebrated the 25th anniversary of the first pilgrimage to Viru-Nigula Maarja Chapel, which took place on May 1, 2000 that was declared by Pope John Paul II as a Holy Year throughout the Catholic Church. For the first time, a group of pilgrims from the Order of Malta Estonia participated in the pilgrimage
