On 7 July 2021, the first Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Estonia, Mag. Manfred L. Ritter Mautner von Markhof, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid in Tallinn.
Diplomatic relations between the Order of Malta and Estonia were established in March 2020.
The Sovereign Order of Malta greatly values its relations with Estonia, grounded in our shared dedication to humanitarian service, solidarity with the vulnerable, and the promotion of peace and human dignity. Through cooperation and dialogue, we look forward to further strengthening the bonds of friendship and advancing our common commitment to serving those most in need.
On Sunday, February 22, after the Holy Mass, two minibuses were blessed by Bishop of Tallinn Mons. Philippe Jourdan in the courtyard of Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral. The vehicles were donated to the Order of Malta Relief Organisation in Estonia and arrived as the gift from Malteser Hilfsdienst of the Diocese of Trier in Germany. Both minibuses are specially adapted for the transport of people with disabilities, particularly wheelchair users.
Sunday, November 16, marked the World Day of the Poor. On this occasion, Pope Leo XIV also called on us to recognise those in need and to stand beside them. Order of Malta Relief Organisation in Estonia offered food assistance on both days this weekend.
